SEARCH FOR THE BEST
RENT TO OWN HOMES THRU PAG-IBIG

Are you tired of renting? Me too!

For 30 years my family was renting. Yes, we are renting even before I was born. Every month we are paying 10,000/mo for a 2 bedroom townhouse in Las Pinas. I feel like a rat running in cycle getting nowhere. So I decided to look for the best possible alternative. I want a rent to own or an affordable house thru Pag-ibig.

I was hoping I could find something in Las Pinas, but as I look for a house in Las Pinas, I was stuck in a dead-end of high priced properties. I realized: So that's the reason my parents was not able to buy a house. It's expensive here. The most affordable I saw is a foreclosed property wherein I have to down 350,000 and monthly is at 18,000/mo. (almost my whole salary!)

If you are willing to avail foreclosed properties you may check these websites:

  1. http://www.foreclosurephilippines.com
  2. http://www.bfs.com.ph
  3. http://www.pagibigfund.gov.ph/AA/

For me, foreclosed is the last on my list coz I don't know the history of the house plus I have to renovate a lot! I have to be practical. I have to live by my means. Ayaw kong ipilit kung hindi kaya. Ang importante; Magkaka bahay na ko. Hindi na ko u-upa!

So I list down my "criteria" for my house. If ever that you have the same criteria join my journey as I look for the best property.

1. Low or (NO Down if possible)
2.  Accessible and Maximum 1 hour ride to Makati or Manila.
3. 5,000 to 8,000/mo only
4. Available thru Pag-ibig finance
5. Less renovation if possible.
6. 2 - 3 bedrooms
7. Flood free
8. 2-floor house (I think townhouse is safer than bungalows, in case of flood in the future)
9. Single attached if possible. ( FACT with my budget, I have to eliminate the last number. Single attached are priced higher so for my budget I could only afford townhouse.)

What did I do to look for a house?
First, Search, search, search. I also asked some of my office mates who already bought a house.
Funny, but here are the websites that most likely have the house that matched my search

1. Facebook
rent to own
magkabahay.com

2. http://www.olx.ph
3. http://www.ayosdito.ph

What I love with the facebook page is that they interact ASAP. unlike with olx and ayos dito I have to wait for the sellers reply.
